The smears against the Tea Party by the left reflect nothing more than a palpable fear of engaging in a debate of ideas, as well as a fear that liberalism cannot triumph in an intellectual context against the platform of fiscal responsibility and prudence put forth by the Tea Party. Thus, we have these infantile smears. It is far easier to engage in baseless smear attacks than to subject one’s ideology to a merit-based scrutiny and analysis.
