Fred Upton Flip-Flops on Light Bulb Ban

Fred Upton, who will be the next Chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, has flip-flopped on the light bulb ban, an issue he championed until this very day.

While it is uplifting that he switched his stance, it is difficult to trust the sincerity of this move. Consider the following.

Upton has proven over the years that he is a liberal, Big Goverment Republican that has supported the efforts of the EPA on a various assortment of issues. His sudden change of heart on the light bulb ban is not due to any change in his philosophical beliefs, but rather, a change-in-name-only so that he can gain more political power.

Upton is no dim-bulb. He is smart. He knows that his liberal record is being exposed to conservatives and tea party activists around the nation. In the last minutes before the House GOP Steering Committee announced their decision on the committee, the chameleon Upton switched his position.

As Fox News reported:

“We have heard the grass roots loud and clear, and will have a hearing early next Congress,” said Mr. Upton, a Michigan Republican who is facing several others in his party in a bid to earn the gavel of the powerful committee. “The last thing we wanted to do was infringe upon personal liberties – and this has been a good lesson that Congress does not always know best.”

But alas, Upton is too late. The bulbs have been banned. The factories have been closed. The jobs have been lost. And the personal liberties that he did not want to infringe, were infringed upon by Upton himself. A last minute switch will not save the damage that he has done. But it has saved him, resulting in his rise to the Chairmanship.

Unfortunately, the GOP Steering Committee did not see through his John “I was for it before I was against it” Kerry theater that Upton peddled. For shame.

If Ma Bell was forced to split up because they were holding to much monopoly over the phone industry – and one of the big software companies went through the same issue, for the same reason not to long ago –
HOW IN THE WORLD CAN FRED support this! (A flip flop doesn’t change it!)
Mr. Upton you have truly done it –
The Head of G.E. is the poorest example in this country of good business – ANYTHING – except perhaps being crooked. He’s in bed with Obama, WHO’S goal CLEARLY APPEARS to be, to bankrupt this country!
EXACTLY HOW is it that “regular” light bulbs are now BAND?
EXACTLY HOW does this affect the Sylvania Company, or any other bulb companies! HOW can this MONOPOLY of the light bulb be made legal? – DO you NOW simply RE-WRITE the rules to fit the POCKET of the Obama/government? Oh, the other companies may also produce the “NEW” bulb – but NOT the “mercury FREE” – is that it? But “We The People” MUST purchase what “THE GOVERNMENT” MAKES AVAILABLE.
It appears more and more clear that this government is committing TREASON against this UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
TREASON – in case someone out there has forgotten – is any act with an enemy of this country that would do harm to – this country.
SHALL I PRINT THE LAUNDRY LIST!
Job’s, Technical & Classified Information, Security……………. Just to name a few.
You might note sending jobs to a COMMUNIST country, while millions here at home are out of work, so a CERTAIN handful of government can make a buck, would qualify.
If that’s not enough the very fact that the mercury is a poison should be reason enough NOT to use them.
Of course given the availability and frequency of poisonous materials being used in products from China and the people being so disposable there – we shouldn’t care – should we?
In case any of you have forgotten, or never knew, it was mercury that was used to tan beaver skin to make hats years ago – the mercury very quickly caused the person using it to go mad. Hence the term “Mad Hatter”.
The issue over trace amounts of mercury in vaccines for children has been a more current issue that you should have heard of.

WHY THEN WOULD WE WANT TO ALLOW THE GOVERNMENT TO FORCE US TO USE LIGHT BULBS THAT HAVE MERCURY IN THEM?
For those who’s “lights” may come on more slowly – rather like the “New” bulbs –
I’ll be happy to venture a guess –
Cap and Trade = GOVERNMENT CONTROL
    Government Spend/Health = GOVERNMENT CONTROL
Taxes & IRS = GOVERNMENT CONTROL
Federal Funding of Education = GOVERNMENT CONTROL
Forced downsizing of an industry = GOVERNMENT CONTROL
FORCED purchases of products & services held, supported or connected to the Government – agencies of the government or any connection in any way to the Government and or those holding offices to the Government = GOVERNMENT CONTROL
That being said I have 1 question – WHO’S pocket besides Mr. Obama and his new man – Mr. G.E. himself – are getting lined with this new CHINA project? It certainly isn’t “We The People”!

    MOST SINCERLY,
    NANCY L. MAZZUCCO
