Rep. John Conyers and Obama attempt to put ‘midnight regulations’ on the Internet

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) is attempting to pull a fast in the House of Representatives. He is pushing though an amendment to the Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act (H.R. 4078) that would give Obama (or any president) the ability to put in place regulations that would impact the Internet. The amendment is amendment #58.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has sent around a “Dear Colleague” (see below) calling attention to this behind-the-curtains attempt at a power grab by the Obama administration. Please contact you Congressman and tell them to keep the Internet out of the government’s hands and oppose amendment #58 to H.R. 4078.

Why does Marsha, (Co-Sponsor of SOPA, CISPA), Want Congress to Regulate the Internet? Why not just say NO FEDERAL branch  (the FCC and congress and the federal courts  included)  has any authority to decide or rule on any aspect concerning the Internet?

BUT Marsha Blackburn did Vote FOR: Patriot Act Reauthorization, Electronic Surveillance, Funding the REAL ID Act (National ID), Foreign Intelligence Surveillance, Thought Crimes “Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, Warrantless Searches, Employee Verification Program, Body Imaging Screening, Patriot Act extension; and only NOW she is worried about free speech, privacy, and government take over of the internet?

    Marsha Blackburn is my Congressman.
