Is The Media Trying To Convince Us That Boehner Is Caving On The Fiscal Cliff Issue?

By Frank McCaffrey — The “Fiscal Cliff” is approaching and House Speaker John Boehner is offering a plan. However, it appears that the media is misrepresenting his plan.

Actually, my impression of Boehner ever since he assumed the “leadership” is that he’s comfortable being a “Rockefeller Republican”. You may remember that they were the “tax collectors who paid for Democrat programs” while they continued to grow the government.

This, in a nutshell explains what happened last Tuesday:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist
until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the
public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the
candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result
that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by
a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been
    200 years.”

    ― Alexis de Tocqueville

Nowhere in anything that happened during the election was or is implied a mandate for the House to capitulate! The House and its members now must stand for the values that exemplify America’s conservative majority! We must all stand and say NO to those who would see us descend into socialism. The alternative is revolution, and I am sanguine that America’s troops cannot be compelled to oppress their fellow citizens.

Under no circumstances should the House of Representatives entertain consideration of any tax increase, unless the Administration and the Senate agree to make E-Verify the law of the land. America’s sovereignty must not be subject to the political and economic whims of foreign governments or the self serving pandering of Liberals seeking to usurp and supplant America’s citizens, and subjugate taxpayers.

The problems facing this country are certainly not due to Obama being re-elected. The problem is that the Republican House WILL CAVE. Boehner most certainly will give up sequestration. Boehner will most certainly increase the national debt limit. And Boehner probably will give in to tax increases, one way or another. The tea party is in a death spiral since the 2010 elections, so there is no one to hold these House Republicans accountable. If Boehner had held the line the last 2 years, no way would Obama have been re-elected.

    In opposition to McKee–
Boehner solely controls sequestration? Not hardly Ballooning Obama debt affects debt limit–again, NOT Boehner. Death spiral??? Head in sand McKee??

Don’t know what “TheGreatest” is talking about. The House (led by Boehner) controls the budget, the debt limit, and sequestration. When Obama threatens to stop SS checks and to shut down the government, Boehner (and thereby the House) will cave. The House passed the increased debt limit (not Obama) in exchange for sequestration, which will not happen. As best I can remember, Boehner has caved on every single bill sent to the Senate which Reid refused to act upon. “TheGreatest”, why do you think it is going to be any different in the future?
