World gone mad

By Rick Manning

You can either laugh or you can cry. But in case you have any doubts, this past week provided proof that the world has indeed gone mad.

The Supreme Court found that racial inequities stemming from Jim Crow laws have been rectified based upon objective racial voter turnout and vote outcomes. Rather than declaring victory and celebrating that federal government’s intervention succeeded in reversing a history of discrimination, the left went into a full-on pout.

Ironically, the vaunted Obama voter turnout machine is most likely responsible for achieving this parity in voter turnout and outcomes, proving that in the future if disparities emerge, they are not based upon race but perhaps instead upon inspiration and inclination to vote for the candidates offered for election.

On a similar front, at the same time Obama’s Justice Department has been decrying voter identification requirements in states as being racist, Obama was touting a $53 million voter identification card system in Kenya. Kenya, a place that you can bet Obama would never have visited before he was reelected.

During the same African trip, Obama announced a plan that could give $7 billion in U.S. taxpayer funds to Africa electricity development, calling electricity, “the lifeline for families to meet their most basic needs, and it’s the connection needed to plug Africa into the grid of the global economy. You’ve got to have power.”

Perhaps the president should tell his EPA this secret, as its plans to eliminate coal-fired electricity generation in America jeopardizes our nation’s domestic power grid, threatening blackouts as dozens of plants are scheduled to go offline in the next couple of years.

Also on the homefront, it was announced that a group controlled by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) will be giving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton their Liberty Medal in a presentation in Philadelphia on Sept. 10. Hillary will be getting the award one day shy of the one-year anniversary of the terror attack in Benghazi, Libya. Apparently Hillary and the younger Bush both agree that it just doesn’t matter.

The stock market curled into the fetal position after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke announced that the “quantitative easing” morphine drip that has been at the heart of the markets’ rise would be ratcheted down if the economy showed it was reviving from its five-year coma. One can only imagine the carnage if this week’s unemployment report shows a lower unemployment rate. Only under Obama’s new normal could Wall Street embrace bad economic reports in its desperation to avoid the shakes of withdrawal.

Perhaps the Betty Ford Clinic should open a new Goldman Sachs wing to keep Lindsay Lohan separated from these much more dangerous addicts.

Finally, not to be outdone, a government audit revealed that those wild and crazy guys at the IRS have been busy using their taxpayer-funded government credit cards to purchase porn and copious amounts of wine. Just try getting those business expenses approved in your next IRS audit.

It is all enough to make you want to laugh, cry or perhaps a little of both.

Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio must believe conservatives are the biggest fools on this earth. Perhaps Florida has more than their fair share of those who have no standards or principles, but I can assure you, conservatives who live west of Pensacola are not the fools Floridians appear to be.

Putting in traffic lights can reduce accidents at intersections. Do we take those out just because they work? Even before the law was gutted, largely-right-wing or at least Republicans had started plans to disenfranchise voters. On the day it was announced, several more went full speed ahead. What’s really needed is to expand the watch list to places like Ohio and anywhere else with onerous voter ID laws in progress, or similar schemes. Instead of making fun of people who can see the obvious problems with gutting the law, why don’t you just enjoy the prospect of more racism that will have your desired effects before someone is able to stop it? You know full well why we still need these laws, though updated: No more lazy African Americans or Hispanics or other 47%-ers getting through . . . only the rich. Or maybe you don’t – if so, why don’t you argue it’s time to take down the traffic signals, remove controls on pollution – it’s much nicer now than in the 50s, so what’s the need? Election security is the new poll tax and literacy law. Rick, you’re a master of spin, obfuscation, and oversimplification, but the gaps in your logic are too big to miss.

They probably recognize that the hard line right wing are fools who are taking their party down with them in their failure to take a reasonable approach where there are differences of opinion. Keep it up, Manuel – the Left is counting on people like you to insist, for instance, that a path to citizenship that is incredibly protracted, arduous and onerous is “amnesty” or that it’s right to make them miserable and count on self-deportation, or that we should just pretend that border security is all that’s involved. You’re never going to find your ideologue who will satisfy all the fringe and still get elected. War on women, war on immigrants, war on health care, war on drugs, war on the unemployed (they don’t work because of those cushy benefits, right?) . . . someone who disagrees that a fertilized egg is a person is a murderer – what you portray as “standards” and “principles” is merely a cover for pettiness, meanness and sticking your head in the sand. Keep on eating your own, that’s what the left is counting on. At least you’ll be able to console yourself that you were “right” – the Bible tells you so, after all. Your reward will be in heaven.

Obama’s Justice Department has been decrying voter identification requirements in states as being racist, Yet last week “O” was appauding a $53 million voter identification card system in Kenya. “gas in logic” … jwater .. you would know.
Just Google “be Lincoln and the Republican history of civil rights”
Then get ready to go into spin and obfuscation mode … just what do you ignorant Lioberals do when confronted by facts? Ignore them in favor of emotional rants? Yup. I’m still looking …. Diogenes.

Once again you prove that the letters after your name mean “piled higher and deeper”. So how does an ID requirement filter out a “lazy African American?”. Is there some sort of test for work ethic before you get the ID? It’s YOU who are racist by implying that all black men are lazy. And just because something “works” does not make it lawful or reasonable. Placing a police dragnet on the streets would also “work” to get rid of drunk drivers, and going house to house, kicking down doors to find illegal drugs would also “work”. If you really believe that a surveillance police state is the way to a .peaceful society, you could leave and move to the old Soviet Union, but that collapsed under the weight of its own corruption. There is no group of human beings that are of higher moral character that are “worthy” to spy on us, or enforce man-made laws to put us in tyranny. Move to Kenya, the birthplace of Barry Soetoro, but you won’t be able to vote there because he wants voter ID for a black nation. Is he racist?

“Keep on eating your own” check the numbers … liberals are aborting themselves out of existance. JPHD … if you guys were enlightening the world why have you aborted 50 million liberals, made me pay for it, and refuse to drop a dime on contraceptioves? You are telling me that’s 50 mill mistakes? Or 50 mill that buy into your lessons of being a victim and you will care for them? Personal responsibility … hated by the left because responsibility dosn’t need your stolen and redistributed hand outs. Just imagine … personal responsibility … not believing you are a victim of imagined monsters under your bed… naaaa… you couldn’t handle it. “O”‘s got your back… so long as you remain his “usefull idiot”. Keep that cup clean… hold that cardboard high … spit on windshilds, wipe it off … blame the guy who is driving by. Pray for the God “O” to save you.

M – far too many people from other parts of the country decided they didn’t like the cold weather or the taxes so they infiltrated the state – however, they failed to leave behind their out-of-the-norm liberal ideas!

Florida’s goose is cooked…once again people have gone to an attractive area of the country, only to bring along all their destructive ideas and way of life…which end up ‘totally transforming’ that which they were attracted to. sad sad sad

Another example is Colorado…once a proud conservative state, now the influx of Californians has made it Rocky Mountain CA!

P, you’ve already established that you think everything is destined to fail until God comes down and works his will, so I don’t know why you even bother to post any more. He’s already in charge – don’t forget, omnipotent and omnipresent – so whatever’s happening, it’s God’s will. Just relax and accept it. But I did not say Blacks, or Black men, were lazy. I implied that the goal of voter ID laws is to disenfranchise minorities, or at least those that the right wing/Republicans don’t want – all of them, because they consider them lazy. You do not have to look at the issue very hard to conclude that, and often it’s not even denied. What’s this “Soetoro” crap? I know you think making fun of peoples’ names is a sign of your wisdom, but it’s not. I guess that style made you quite a terror on the grade-school playground, but it’s not impressing anyone here.

What “facts” are you presenting? Every time an objective investigation has been done of so-called “voter fraud” it has been found to be negligible; the claims, always by the right wing, are always orders of magnitude higher than reality. So why the requirement for voter ID? Because a substantial percentage of minority and lower-socio-economic status individuals, who do tend to vote Democratic, do not have them and find them difficult to get. Thus, they will be unable to vote. This has been demonstrated countless times over the past decade. Why do you think that what Obama recommends for Kenya bears on what’s right for the US? Is that your idea of a “gap” in logic? Talk about obfuscation! Your pseudo-parallel is a classic example of that. I’m not spinning anything here, nor am I being “emotional.” Have you got something coherent to say?

  • jwatersphd 06.07.2013 3:12 PM

I don’t hate personal responsibility or consider myself a victim. Nor am I praying to anybody to save me. I’ve worked and supported myself and family for over 50 years. It’s ludicrous to say I can’t handle it. How was it that you paid for 50 million “liberals” to be aborted? How do you know they were liberals? Do think a political attitude is inherited? Talk about emotional rants.

Photo voter ID is NOT hard to get!! Why in the world do it you Libs think it’s harder for “minorities” to get them? All they have to do is go down to the Drivers License Bureau, present proof of citizenship (birth certificate) and get a photo voter ID and it’s not expensive at all. You and other Liberals want to act like these “minorities” are too stupid to get a Photo ID. Makes perfect sense, right? Or is it that Democrats are afraid if these “minorities” have to show proof of citizenship, that those who aren’t citizens won’t be able to vote!!??? How can this simple procedure “disenfranchise” any legal voter? Also why is obama/holder trying to keep states from purging dead voters from the voter rolls…is it that this makes too much common sense??
